Want to Change your
Google My Business Logo? Easy!

When you work with your Google My Business (GMB) profile, you may face some difficulties updating the brand's logo or cover photo. Google can change it for a better one to their opinion, which actually can differ from yours.
The problem
Usually, you change your images like this.
We should notice that Google has character and prefers to decide which of your photo suits best to be the main one. One of the reasons is the number of views. But this metric has its disadvantages because older photos logically have more views than new ones. Moreover, photos that have no brand on them will surface more often and the preference also depends on the quality of the image: the higher the quality — the more frequently we see the image.

The other thing is when Google tests the photos they get more views.

We can get down to the GMB guidelines for photos, to understand how they are chosen. Your best photos should meet the following standards:
  • Format — JPG or PNG
  • Size — between 10 KB and 5 MB
  • Recommended resolution — 720 px tall, 720 px wide
  • Minimum resolution — 250 px tall, 250 px wide
  • Quality — the image should correspond to the reality, be in focus, well lit, and have no significant alterations or excessive use of filters.
This could be quite frustrating, cause even if Google says that you have total control over everything, they still review your pictures themselves and make decisions on which image will be the primary one in your listing.

Try to upload high-quality pictures of your location in order to have some guarantee that they'll be shown to users. Just remember that it is better not to use logos. But in case you see something else instead of your image, don't be too surprised — Google is the boss.
Is there anything you can do with all this?
Yes. The answer is more simple than it may seem. Just change the cover photo for your GMB website — and it will change the logo in your GMB business profile.
